Reinvent Albany Supports State Senate Passage of Election Bills

Reissues Memos of Support for Four Bills

Reinvent Albany thanks the State Senate for its efforts to continuously improve state and local boards of election.

To celebrate the State Senate’s passage of pro-democracy legislation, Reinvent Albany reissued four memos of support for election bills today:

  • S1356 (Skoufis) – Authorizes NY to share voter roll data with other states, such as through the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC).
  • S1035 (Myrie) / A1228 (Seawright) Mandates training for NY local elections commissioners and key staff.
  • S843 (May) – Establishes minimum staffing levels for local boards of elections.
  • S1087 (Mayer) Makes local elections commissioners full-time employees of their boards.

We urge the Assembly to pass all of the bills listed above.

Regarding S1036: As a matter of policy, we believe the voting address should be the legal residence used for state and local income tax purposes, thus we do not support this bill.
