Support for Bills Protecting School Revenue, Making Authorities More Accountable

As part of our advocacy for open, accountable New York government, Reinvent Albany reissued memos of support for the following bills:

S132 (Ryan) – Prevents IDAs from abating school district taxes.
S2157 (Comrie) – Requires Municipal Housing Authorities (including NYCHA) to report use of state funding to the Authorities Budget Office.
S2459 (Comrie) – Repeals 2019 changes to Public Authorities Control Board.
S2520 (Skoufis) / A3425 (Raga) – Reduces time public must wait to appeal FOIL delays and denials. This bill is also supported by Reinvent Albany, Common Cause NY, the League of Women Voters of NYS, New York Coalition for Open Government, NYPIRG, and Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. This was reintroduced in the Assembly.

We urge the Senate and Assembly to pass the bills above.

We also reissued a memo of opposition to the following bill:

A551 (Pheffer Amato) / S3516 (Scarcella-Spanton) – Exempts police officers from congestion pricing tolls. This was reintroduced in the Senate.
