Groups Support Bills Increasing Ethics and Lobbying Transparency
As part of our advocacy for open, accountable NY government, watchdogs and advocacy groups issued joint memos of support for two bills:
- S9009 (Skoufis) – Requires electronic filing of all lobbying filings.
- S9011 (Skoufis) – Requires electronic filing of all financial disclosure statements to the Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government. Both of these bills are supported by Reinvent Albany, Citizens Union, Common Cause NY, the League of Women Voters of New York State, the New York City Bar, and the New York Public Interest Research Group.
We also reissued memos of support for the following bills:
- S3257 (Hoylman-Sigal) / A9975 (Rosenthal L) – Limits commercial FOIL exemption. This bill was introduced in the Assembly by AM Linda Rosenthal.
- S611-B (Mayer) / A919-B (Jacobson) – Makes local elections commissioners full-time employees of the board. This bill is now on the Senate Floor Calendar.
- S145 (Gianaris) / A2160 (Dinowitz) – Exempts MTA from Public Authorities Reimbursement Fee. This bill passed the Senate and is in the Assembly Corporations Committee.
We urge the bills to be passed by the full Senate and Assembly.
