Watchdog Strongly Supports Campaign Finance Board Denying Public Funds to Eric Adams Campaign

Reinvent Albany strongly supports today’s decision by the NYC Campaign Finance Board to deny public matching funds to Mayor Eric Adam’s reelection campaign. We believe the CFB’s decision will give New Yorkers renewed confidence that public matching funds are protected and used to make elections fairer by reducing the influence of deep-pocketed special interests.

We commend the Board for continuing to act based on fact and principle. We also completely agree with the Board’s statement that:

“There is reason to believe the Adams campaign has engaged in conduct detrimental to the matching funds program, in violation of law, including the Campaign Finance Act and Board Rules.”

The NYC Campaign Finance Board has again made New York City proud. We appreciate the professionalism, integrity, and transparency of the CFB’s Board and staff.

Reinvent Albany works for transparent and accountable New York government.
