New York Senate Confirmations
Under the New York State Constitution, the State Senate must provide advice and consent on the Governor’s nominees to powerful positions—judges, agency heads, and key boards and commissions. Unfortunately, the NYS Senate does not publish basic details of these votes, including how individual members voted.
Because these votes are not published online, Reinvent Albany filed Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests for Senate roll call voting records. Using the voting records received in response to our requests from 2024 and 2025, we released a report, “Transparency Gap: NY Senate Confirmation Votes Kept Behind Two Layers of Obstacles,” in December 2025.
Following up from this report, Reinvent Albany filed another FOIL request for 2026 voting records, which are now available below, along with votes from 2024 and 2025.
