Assembly Should Pass Six Bills Strengthening Transparency, Reducing Corporate Handouts
Cheers to the Assembly for notable work this session passing bills strengthening the Freedom of Information Law. We urge Speaker Heastie to keep up the momentum and join the Senate in passing six common-sense bills that include one reducing FOIL delays and another decoupling New York’s tax code from wasteful federal Opportunity Zone subsidies.
The Assembly should use these final two days to pass the following bills. All have passed the Senate:
- S2520-B (Skoufis) / A3425-A (Raga) – Reduces time the public must wait to appeal FOIL delays and denials. In Assembly Ways and Means.
- S3340 (Gianaris) / A3246 (Dinowitz) – Ends NY’s Opportunity Zone tax break. In Assembly Ways and Means.
- S4658-A (Ryan) / A4196 (Solages) – Prohibits subsidies for e-commerce warehouse facilities. In Assembly Rules.
- S374 (Gianaris) / A7456 (McDonald) – Discloses lobbying activities for confirmation or nomination of persons to state office. In Assembly Rules.
- S5843 (Skoufis) / A2330 (McDonald) – Requires electronic filing of all lobbying disclosures. In Assembly GovOps.
- S462-A (Hoylman-Sigal) / A1518-A (Weprin) – Authorizes the use of cameras in New York’s trial and appellate courts. In Assembly Judiciary.
