Reinvent Albany Joins Letter Urging Hearings on Ethics Enforcement
Reinvent Albany has joined a letter led by the New York Public Interest Research Group urging state leaders to hold hearings on oversight of New York’s ethics laws.
The letter was addressed to the state’s legislative majority and minority leaders, as well as committee chairs Senator Biaggi and Assemblymember Zebrowski, and emphasized the need to reform the Joint Commission of Public Ethics, the state’s ethics enforcement agency. The signatories called on the legislature to immediately convene a joint hearing on how to establish effective ethics enforcement in New York.
The letter was signed by eight organizations: the Campbell Public Affairs Institute at Syracuse, Citizens Union, Committee to Reform the State Constitution, Common Cause/New York, League of Women Voters of NYS, New York Public Interest Research Group, Reinvent Albany, and the Sexual Harassment Working Group.
