Salary Range: $70,000 – $82,000/year, plus benefits

Reinvent Albany is looking for a full-time Communications and Program Coordinator. Reinvent Albany is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization advocating for more open and accountable New York government. We are one of the state’s leading government watchdog groups with a highly efficient team that has helped pass dozens of laws. Our organization is regularly cited by news outlets for our expertise on open data and Freedom of Information, accountable authorities and agencies (including the MTA), strengthening democracy for all New Yorkers, and challenging wasteful corporate subsidies.
The Communications and Program Coordinator will report to the Director of Operations. They will manage Reinvent Albany’s communications workflow and outreach and provide essential programmatic support for promoting our advocacy efforts.
Communications and Program Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
- Manage production workflow for all communications (including press releases, memos, testimonies, letters, newsletters, and reports) from draft form to publication
- Send campaigns via email to relevant distribution lists
- Update blog, advocacy tracker, and internal comms trackers
- Use social media platforms to promote communications and media coverage
- Schedule meetings for staff with public officials and their staff, agencies, working groups, and other stakeholders
- Maintain extensive database of NYS and NYC government and press contacts
- Monitor team inbox and direct incoming requests to appropriate staff
- Coordinate outreach with key media contacts and assist staff with research for interviews
- Organize and execute online and in-person events (may require occasional travel to Albany)
- Record minutes for internal staff meetings and external meetings as needed
- Keep track of relevant NYS and NYC issues and news
- Ad hoc help with related communications, program, and research projects as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of communications and/or program support experience (background in policy, politics, or advocacy not required)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Comfortable with all forms of outreach, e.g., email, phone calls, and in-person meetings
- Takes initiative, openly shares ideas, and is not afraid to ask questions
- Skilled at time management. Adept at multitasking and working with changing priorities
- Attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to keep processes streamlined and organized
- Proofreading and/or copyediting experience a plus
- Professional social media experience with X and/or Bluesky a plus
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides), Mailchimp, and WordPress a plus
