Reinvent Albany joined Regional Plan Association and other civic organizations, environmental justice groups, and transit advocates, in a letter to Governor Hochul asking for her continued support of congestion pricing by urging her to push the White House and the Federal Highway Administration to expedite the process for implementing the congestion pricing program without further delay.
The groups also wrote to President Biden asking for the federal government to move forward quickly and efficiently on the environmental assessment. Congestion pricing is needed now more than ever to combat unprecedented levels of traffic and pollution, significantly impacting communities of color, disadvantaged communities, and environmental justice communities. In addition, the revenue from congestion pricing would be crucial for funding MTA’s capital plan, which would include much-needed improvements to the public transit system.
