Reinvent Albany Supports Even-Year Elections – More People Voting Is Essence of Democracy

We urge the Governor to support S3505-B (Skoufis) / A4282-A (Paulin), which moves some local elections to even years, when races for President and Governor hugely boost voter turnout. Compared to other states, New York has extremely low voter turnout rates, especially in odd-year, off-cycle elections. This law will mean more people casting votes in local elections, which is a good thing for New York’s representative democracy.
