As part of our advocacy for open, accountable New York government, Reinvent Albany urges the full Senate and Assembly to pass the following bills:
- Establishes doing-business restrictions for New York State (S9697 (Myrie)) – This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Election Law.
- Establishes commission to study COVID-19 pandemic response (A8053-B (González-Rojas) / S8168-A (Salazar)) – This bill is supported by Reinvent Albany, Empire Center, Citizens Union, Common Cause NY, League of Women Voters of New York State, and NYPIRG. This bill was amended.
- Requires agencies to submit FOIL logs to the Committee on Open Government (S8671-A (Hoylman-Sigal) / A9621-A (McDonald)) – This bill is supported by Reinvent Albany, Citizens Union, Common Cause NY, League of Women Voters of New York State, New York Coalition for Open Government, NYPIRG, and Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. This bill passed the Assembly and is in Senate Rules.
- Authorizes NY to share voter roll data with other states (S6173-B (Skoufis) / A7052-C (Sillitti)) – This bill passed the Senate and is on third reading in the Assembly.
- Ends automatic approval of some gubernatorial appointees (S7655 (Salazar) / A8022 (Shrestha)) – This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Corps.
- Repeals 2019 changes to the Public Authorities Control Board (S8142 (Comrie) / A9231 (Zebrowski)) – This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Ways and Means.
We also thank the Senate and Assembly for passing the following bills:
- Requires the public posting of certain contracts which are otherwise subject to the approval of the state comptroller (S9171 (Cooney) / A10281 (Solages))
- Requires municipalities to maintain municipal websites (S3353-A (Skoufis) / A2852-A (Zebrowski))
- Requires candidates nominated for county committee to be notified by the NYC BOE (A494-A (Epstein) / S6199-A (Myrie))
