Support for Two Bills, Opposition to Two More

As part of our advocacy for open, accountable NY government, Reinvent Albany issued memos of support for the following bills:

S7813 (Skoufis) / A9021 (Buttenschon) – Eliminates constitutional restriction forbidding the Governor and Lt. Governor from exercising duties while outside the state. This is a new memo.
S1035 (Myrie) / A1228 (Seawright) – Mandates training for NY local elections commissioners and key staff. This bill passed the Senate and is now in the Assembly Ways and Means committee.

We also issued memos of opposition to the following bills:

S4117-B (Scarcella-Spanton) / A2074-C (Berger) – Exempts certain claims against law enforcement from FOIL requests. This is a new memo.
S2047-A (Webb) / A617-A (Shimsky) – Amends definition of “reportable business relationship.” This bill passed the Assembly and is in the Senate Ethics and Internal Governance committee.
