Support for Seven Bills Strengthening NYS Government
As part of our advocacy for open, accountable NY government, Reinvent Albany issued memos of support for the following bills:
- A10513 (Steck) – Bars online sports betting companies from receiving Excelsior tax credits.
- S6745 (Stavisky) / A5733 (Hyndman) – Requires SUNY and CUNY Research Foundations to report on finances and contracts.
We also reissued memos of support for the following bills:
- S9739 (Kavanagh) / A2321 (McDonald) – Requires agencies to submit FOIL logs to the Committee on Open Government. This memo is signed by 15 groups. The bill was re-introduced in the Senate by Senator Kavanagh. The Assembly has passed the bill – we urge the Senate to do the same.
- A1410 (Rosenthal L) / S9777 (Sepúlveda) – Limits commercial FOIL exemption. This memo is signed by seven groups. The bill was re-introduced in the Senate by Senator Sepúlveda. The Assembly has passed the bill – we urge the Senate to do the same, as it has in previous sessions.
- S5171 (Skoufis) / A5261 (Solages) – Relates to preventing the use of funds, financial incentives, subsidies or tax exemptions for projects with non-public occupants.
- S5452 (Comrie) / A10947 (Walker) – Requires local election commissioners to meet professional qualifications. This bill was introduced in the Assembly by AM Walker.
- S9557 (Mayer) / A9559 (Rajkumar) – Requires lobbyists to report support for or opposition to legislation.This bill was introduced in the Senate by Senator Mayer.
