Support for Seven Bills Strengthening NYS Government
As part of our advocacy for open, accountable government, Reinvent Albany issued new memos of support for:
- S5452 (Comrie) – Requires local election commissioners to meet professional qualifications.
- S3159 (Skoufis) / A5258 (Solages) – Prohibits county IDAs from offering incentives in municipalities with their own IDA.
- A3788 (Dinowitz) – Requires legislators to resign from office immediately if they move out of district.
- S4945 (Comrie) – Makes Public Authorities Reporting Information System (PARIS) reports immediately available to the public.
- S3232 (Bailey) / A6598 (Rozic) – Allows 17-year-olds to vote in primary election if they are 18 years old at time of general election (this memo also supports the concurrent resolution that would make the same change in the NYS Constitution).
We urge the Legislature to pass these bills.
We also reissued memos of support for the following bills, both of which passed the Senate:
- S5563 (Mayer) – Authorizes County Comptrollers to audit IDAs and LDCs.
- S4039-A (Skoufis) / A5090-A (Solages) – Prohibits public officials from collecting compensation from IDAs.
We urge the Assembly to pass these bills.
