Support for Nine Bills Strengthening NYS Government

As part of our advocacy for open, accountable government, Reinvent Albany issued the following new memos of support:

We are also reissuing the following memos:

  • S9557-B (Mayer) / A9559-A (Rajkumar) (group memo) Requires lobbyists to report support for or opposition to legislation. This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Governmental Operations.
  • S1418-A (Liu) / A950-A (Steck) (group memo) – Strengthens FOIL attorneys’ fees. This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Governmental Operations.
  • S3340 (Gianaris) / A3246 (Dinowitz) (group memo) – Ends NY’s tax break for Trump’s Opportunity Zone program. This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Ways and Means.
  • S10098 (Skoufis) / A10759 (Raga) (group memo) – Reduces time the public must wait to appeal FOIL delays and denials. This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Governmental Operations.
  • S9790 (Sepúlveda) / A1518-A (Weprin)Authorizes the use of cameras in New York State’s appellate and trial courts. This bill passed the Senate and is in Assembly Judiciary.
  • S9739-A (Kavanagh) / A2321-A (McDonald) (group memo) – Requires agencies to submit FOIL logs to the Committee on Open Government. This bill was amended.

We urge the Legislature to pass these bills.

Finally, we urge Governor Hochul to sign S6253-A (Skoufis) / A6741-A (Simone), which passed both houses. It requires the State Board of Elections to post sample ballots.
