NY corporate giveaway news from this week:
- A strongly supported bill banning IDAs from abating more than a billion a year in school taxes is not moving, but a bill requiring school and labor representatives on IDA boards passed both the NY Senate and Assembly (Bloomberg Tax).
- The City covers the struggles NYC film and TV productions are facing despite $700 million in state subsidies a year and lavish NYC tax breaks for new studios.
- The construction of the Micron plant in upstate Clay will destroy hundreds of acres of wetlands (Syracuse Post-Standard). In return, Micron is required to invest in the creation of new wetland property.
- The House GOP is probing the federal government’s $1.7 billion loan to Plug Power, citing alleged conflicts of interest (Bloomberg).
