Support for Five Bills Strengthening NYS Government

As part of our advocacy for open, accountable NY government, Reinvent Albany issued memos of support for the following bills:

  • S9557-B (Mayer) / A9559 (Rajkumar) – Requires lobbyists to report support for or opposition to legislation. This memo is now signed by Reinvent Albany, BetaNYC, Citizens Union, Committee to Reform the State Constitution, Common Cause/NY, Harassment-Free New York, and the League of Women Voters of New York State.
  • S9790 (Sepúlveda) / A1518-A (Weprin)Authorizes the use of cameras in New York State’s appellate and trial courts. This bill was introduced in the Senate by Senator Sepúlveda.
  • S2050 (Webb) / A7289 (Pretlow)Increases election commissioner terms from two to four years. This bill passed the Senate and was introduced in the Assembly by AM Pretlow. It is now in the Assembly Election Law committee.
  • S6253-A (Skoufis) / A6741-A (Simone)Requires State Board of Elections to post sample ballots. This bill passed the Assembly and is now in the Senate Elections committee.
  • S10098 (Skoufis) / A10759 (Raga)Reduces time public must wait to appeal FOIL delays and denials. This bill was re-introduced following a veto by Governor Hochul. This memo is signed by Reinvent Albany, Common Cause/NY, Freedom of the Press Foundation, New York Coalition for Open Government, the New York Public Interest Research Group, and the League of Women Voters of New York State.
